A Little History of Camp Edgewood NSAC

Did you know as the State Spiritualist Association of Washington NSAC, Camp Edgewood, of Edgewood Washington had a summer season that opened the first Saturday of June of any given year and closed the last Saturday of August of any given year? In those days, when camp opened, the Spiritualist churches affiliated with camp closed and everyone came to support their camp and the state headquarters for the state association which had it’s headquarters here at camp. When camp closed, only homeowners were left on camp from September through May, so if there were broken pipes, fallen trees, or any other kind of problems, the homeowners took care of it. We saw the board only on the first Saturday of the month, board meetings held then were in the Healing Center’s office (then known as the Hotel’s office). It was a board of 10 members, we had 2 Vice-Presidents, and we would have a potluck dinner after every board meeting. They came from all over for the board meetings, so the meetings were held at 1 pm. There were no members at the meetings and you had to have a written request for an audience with the state board. In those days, it was written that the state secretary had to have their headquarters on camp so they also lived here all year round. Homeowners were like the right arm of the state board when there was no one on the grounds, except them. In these days, we did not have year round renters, only homeowners. For your historical information, here’s a start on the homeowner’s who lived here:
